My dog (large mix breed) either chased or followed a deer (male ~ 3 - 4 years old with a four point rack) over a 6 foot fence into our neighbor's yard. He got into a fight with the deer in the yard before I was able to get him out (long story).

The neighbor is saying that there was damage to their pool liner (not a cover, but the liner that keeps the water in the pool) due to this fight.

My dog was never in the pool and I never saw the deer go in the pool. However, I know that the deer was in the yard for probably about an hour after I removed my dog from the yard. The deer could have gone in the pool and caused the damage then - I don't know.

My question is, am I liable for the damage to the pool liner?
