The post about the Clintons' cat Socks got me to thinking about other presidents who have owned cats.

Did you know Abe Lincoln had cats? William McKinley had an Angora cat and she had kittens while he was president. JFK had a cat named Tom Kitten. Gerald Ford had a Siamese cat. So did Jimmy Carter who named his Misty Malarky Ying Yang. The current first family had a cat named Ernie, but they felt he was too wild to live in the White House and now he lives with a family in California.
