The ideal time to start dog training is around 4-5 months and that too with some easy tricks, like shaking hands or rolling. Don't try the difficult ones on the young ones, they can injure themselves. Getting a dog trainer is always advisable

I would start training your dog right away. Its much easier teaching your dog when hes youung then having to teach your dog new tricks when he is older.

In my ideas, when the dogs age 1 month can start trainning. How to eat and drink properly is a first lessons to the dog. After that we can start trainning to catch up a sound or voices.

In my case, I started training my dog after bringing him home. I did it gently and clearly. Now, he calls our attention when he wanted to pee and poo ![]()

I totally agree with the younger the better to train a dog. My puppies learn the command drop it very quickly before they leave our home to go to new owners. I also work on paper training them before they leave and ours catch on really quickly. We have trained very young pups 3 months and up how to sit and stay and shake hands as well. Fetch is a big thing here too and they usually have that down pat before going to new homes.

I started training my Lab when he was two months old but I just taught him the basics like where to do his business. Now he calls my attention if he needs to go the bathroom. When he was three to four months old, I taught him basic tricks like sit, stand, lie down and stay cause he has to learn those since he will grow up quite big and it will be difficult to feed him if he doesn't know how to wait for his food. He used to jump up on me when he was younger but now he knows he has to sit and lie down before he gets fed. I contacted a dog trainer before and he told me that I had to wait for my dog to grow six months old before he could train him. I didn't know why so I just started to train him myself and it has worked out quite well. I think puppies should be trained while they're young cause they might think that ripping stuff and doing their business everywhere is good. You have to be careful though not to tire him out so much and to teach him the basics especially if he's still very young. Don't forget to give him treats if he did a good job and a lot of clean water after your lesson.
