| My old dog is going blind. My dog has been losing her eyesight for a few years, and the doc says there really isn't anything that we can do. She thinks that she is a puppy, but her body tells us differently. She has been walking into walls, falling off the bed, and doing other things that worry me lately. I want her life to be as good as possible in her last days. Can anyone give me some hints on keeping her safe while her vision is going away? I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks! ![]() |

| I don't have any advice but just wanted to let you know that I feel for you. It's hard to watch your loved one go through a difficulty like this. Hopefully your dog will adjust soon. My in-laws have a dog that went blind a few years ago. She is doing fine now with moving around the house and not bumping things or getting hurt. |

| All you can do is be her eyes as much as you can. Although MissMau is right - she'll probably adjust her ways when she gets sick of bumping into things, and start to be more careful in her movements. She needs time to build up an inner picture of her surroundings to replace her field of vision. For this reason, it's important that you don't make any drastic changes like moving furniture around. Don't give her any surprises!
