I know human shampoo is bad for dogs because there are harsher chemicals in our shampoo that may cause skin irritation for our dogs. Maybe the same applies to dish soap. I mean if it's used to kill germs on plates and utensils, it may be harmful to dogs as well. Better check with your vet to see if it's okay.

As greensneakers said, they are harmful for their skin.
You'd better check with your vet for help.

I don't know about dish soap, but I have been told that bathing them with shaving cream will kill all fleas.

I think that is not a good idea. You can use those which are recommended. you might put your dog's health into jeopardy. Making that move might create another problem. Be safe

Really? Shaving cream? Is it safe? I've never heard about this one. You just spread it all over the dog and then you rinse it off?

You will hear all sorts of home remedies to get rid of fleas. I have heard that feeding dogs 2 pieces of bread daily will kill fleas due to the yeast in it. I also have heard garlic will kill them but garlic can be toxic to dogs.
Best thing to do is to get a good flea and tick shampoo or ask your vet for something. They have foams that you can purchase that kill off fleas and ticks in a hurry if they are infested. You can also get Advantix or Frontline from several internet vendors at a cheaper rate than some of the vets office
