Smile Is Commercial Dog Food Bad?

I fed our puppies commercial dog food for many years without even thinking about it. Then recently I decided to search around to find out if commercial dog food is bad for my dog's health, and what I found really spooked me. Much of my information came from this book about Commercial Dog Food.

The major dog food manufacturers are producing nothing but bad dog food. That may seem to be a grandiose claim, but there is a plethora of evidence to prove it. Behind the colorful bags, the jingles, the slogans, the commercials – major dog food brands supply one thing: bad dog food. It’s an injustice to all dogs and dog lovers. What these producers of bad dog food are really offering your favorite furry friend is a foul admixture of disgusting by-products and a cornucopia of toxic chemicals.

More than 95 percent of US companion animals derive their nutritional needs from a single source: processed pet food. When people think of pet food, many envision whole chickens, choice cuts of beef, fresh grains, and all the nutrition that a dog or cat may ever need -- images that pet food manufacturers promote in their advertisements. What these companies do not reveal is that instead of whole chickens they have substituted chicken heads, feet, and intestines. Those choice cuts of beef are really cow brains, tongues, esophagi, fetal tissue dangerously high in hormones, and possibly diseased and even cancerous meat. Those whole grains have had the starch removed for corn starch powder and the oil extracted for corn oil, or they are hulls and other remnants from the milling process. Grains used that are truly whole have usually been deemed unfit for human consumption because of mold, contaminants, poor quality, or poor handling practices. Pet food is one of the worlds most synthetic edible products, containing virtually no whole ingredients.

There are undeniable advantages to feeding a dog a good quality commercial dog food. For a start, it provides a complete and balanced meal. If you go the route of preparing your own dog food, you really need to commit to the time to prepare it, and research it enough to make sure your dog is getting all the nutrients it needs. And of course, for those with jobs and time demands that make this impossible, commercial dog foods are the only viable alternative. But there are a number of issues with commercial dog and pet foods that the pet lover should be aware of.

So how do you feel about commercial dog food?

Cow brains. Sheep guts. Chicken heads. Road kill. Rancid grain. These are a few of the so-called nutritionally balanced ingredients found in the commercial pet food served to companion animals every day. These can be harmful to your loved Pet and you must be cautious about such things.

However, Not all Commercial Products are Same & fully Professional as one might think !!!!!
