Default Kinds of food that are bad for our dogs health

Hi, I'm new here and I'm not sure if there's already a thread like this one. Please delete this if there's already an existing thread.

I had my first pure bred dog last year and I try to take every precaution to take care of his health because they said that pure breeds are more sensitive when it comes to food and other stuff. My dog is a Labrador Retriever and he loves to eat-- A LOT. Sometimes I give him food from the table but most of the times we give him his usual dog food or we cook stuff for him.

When I'm not home, my mom takes care of him and she tends to give him stuff that are unhealthy. I gave my mom a list of what she's not supposed to give our dog but I'm not sure if it's complete.

Here is a list of the kinds of food that they say are bad for our dogs health:
1. Chocolate
2. Garlic
3. Onions
4. Nuts
5. Grapes
6. Raisins
7. Chips
8. Chicken bones (as they might puncture the dog's stomach)
9. Anything spicy
10. Milk (when they're adults as it may lead to diarrhea)

Do you know any other kinds of food that are bad for our dogs health?

Nice list you got there, greensneakers! I have also been looking for a list like this that I can reference with when feeding our dog. I have to admit I'm a bit naive to this stuff and your post just came right for me.

Thank you for sharing this valuable information! I'll add to your list when I come across more information regarding this.

Good list you got there.

Raisins are one which have to be kept far from dogs as they are not at all digestible and cause problems in the alimentary tract. And milk, a good point mentioned.
Puppies should have milk as a main part of diet, but the same if continued to the adult dogs, would cause diarrhoea.

Thanks for listing others too

Sweets, spicy food, sauces condiments and chemicals and additives is not good for dogs. Bad food for dogs results in bad nutrition which causes several ailments. The cooked chicken bone may tend to splinter and consequently choke your dog, or not be digested once it has entered the body. Coffee, tea or any product that contains caffeine stimulates an animal's central nervous and cardiac systems.

In general, the following list is bad food for dogs:

sweets, fats, spicy food, sauces/condiments, and chemicals and additives but this is typically in processed foods. Whereas you may be tempted to give Fido a piece of chocolate which encompasses sweets in the list of bad food for dogs, you wouldn’t open a can of chemicals and give it to your dog. (It’s embedded already in the processed food!) Even if you’re eating chicken on the bone, you may think it’s ok to give your dog the bone after you’ve finished eating. Bad food for your dog! This should be avoided. The cooked chicken bone may tend to splinter and consequently choke your dog, or not be digested once it has entered the body.

However, there are some commercial foods that can regain all energy to the dogs lost by Bad-Foods. So, I think Give a dog only those dry-foods that contains maximum amount of nutrition.
