Default Pet Allergies

I adopted my dog from the local Animal Control facility. They said he had some allergies to certain food products - but the vet that I took him to does not think this is correct.

Is it important enough to seek a second oppinion or should I be fine?

I think it would be better to get a second opinion just to be sure.

Dogs are sensitive to some types or kinds of food and it's better to be sure if he/she really is really allergic to something. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Smile Allergies

Hey there,
If a dog chews and/or scratches at the pads of there paws then it is a VERY good possibility that he/she has a food allergy. The paw pads are a dogs only sweat glands therefor anything the goes into the dog that does not agree with their systems is excreted through the paws hence the chewing. Many people will come across this and notice their pup's paw inflammed or swollen, if so you need to change the diet!
As far as everyone saying to go to the vet. The vet is most likely going to perfrom one of these options.
A. They will throw your dog on a "hypoallergenic dog food" that most dogs will not want to eat but is also VERY VERY pricey. Instead, go to your local all natural dog food store and ask for a hypoallergenic formula. I am a manager for an all natural dog food store and we sell the "Pinnacle" line and TRUST ME, I recommend and suggest this food daily to people in these situations and they swear by it. They make a Trout and Sweet Potato formula which is the most popular.
B. Your vet will charge you an arm and a leg for a visit and recommend you have your dogs take an allergy test and will give you a handout of things your dog can and cannot eat. Do not be fooled by these tests tho...I warn you. I have had people come in and literally given me a binder of what they can't eat and 99.9% of the time the Pinnacle or other foods we sell work for them.
THE ALLERGY TEST IS OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS AND AT BEST, THE RESULTS ARE 60-70% ACCURATE.

Feel free to message me with any other questions and concerns...as cliche as it sounds, going the holistic route has many many many benefits that you might be missing out on
