| OK if you are asking how to use your dog as a stud, then yes you will need either AKC or CKC papers on him. AKC is preferred as they have a much stricter breeding program and do DNA on males as well who have produced more than 6 litters. You will also need to have your dog tested for things such as brucellosis or any other genetic defects that occur with that breed. Most people do stud fees in one of two ways. They either charge a set fee for a breeding or they get pick of the litter as their stud fee. It is very important to get a written contract to do this. As far as the price, ask around other breeders in the area or go online and see what people are asking for stud fees. Please note that stud fees for a proven breeder or from a champion dog or bred from champion stock will cost more than one that is pet quality. |
