breeding of two different species of dogs

Default breeding of two different species of dogs

Do two different species of dogs mate.
and if they do, are there any subsequent litters.

Dogs will mate and interbreed with any female that is around and in heat. I don't know if you are referring to the new "designer dog" fancy with cross breeds or just in general. It is possible yes and that is why there are so many mixed breeds in the pounds now.
Yes when you breed two different dogs together you do get traits of both in the off spring. You also get all the health problems combined of the two dogs in subsequent litters as well.

well i was thinking thinking something weird, say like between a dobberman and a pommie for example.
you think this could result in subsequent litters

Well of course you have to use some common sense, even if a doberman could successfully mate with a pomeranian, and assuming the pom is the female, those sized puppies could easily kill a female trying to carry them because of her size. You always want to breed a smaller male to a larger female. I don't condone any cross breeding on purpose.
