Wink How Many Puppies In A Litter On Average?

Did you ever wonder how many puppies will be born in a litter? I know that some dogs will produce more pups than others, but I didn't know what is the normal size of the litter. So I went to find an answer to show you guys.

The average size of a litter is generally 6 to 10 puppies. The number of puppies in a litter often varies with the size of the dog. Smaller dogs tend to have smaller litters. The average dog could have 2 litters a year.

I found where one dog had 17 puppies in her litter! She went to breed the dog and just two months months later, Mia has given birth to a brood of 17 cute and cuddly pups, which has set a world record for her breed and is more than double the size of the average litter. She added: “This is the by far the biggest litter we’ve had over more than twenty years at the practice, and is not too far behind the world record of 23 pups by a great dane, which is a much bigger breed.”

Cool huh?

17!!!, IT'S REALLY COOL....
It depends entirely on the breed of the dog and how small or large they are. Most small dogs will have 1 - 3 puppies, while say a Golden Retriever could have 4 - 6 puppies or possibly more.
Puppies are almost always born 63 days after the first mating. Most of our litters have arrived in the evening or overnight hours, rather than during the daytime. You will probably be up all night to help out, so you're not going to want to go to work the next day. Use your calendar to figure out the due date, and tell your boss right now that you probably will be missing a day of work on that day and/or the next. You should also warn your vet's office... and find out how to get their help if problems develop overnight or on a weekend.
In the weeks before birth, the mother dog's body expands out to the sides quite a bit. But in the last few days before birth, gravity kicks in and you will notice an unmistakable sag of the belly... the more pups, the greater the sag. If there are lots of pups, the belly may practically drag on the ground.

Exactly How Many Puppy in a Litter depends on the breed of the dog. Here is a table that shows and tells you the quantity of pups you can expect VS the breed you have. The world's record for the most puppies in a litter belongs to Nap Mastiff with 24 puppies!
& I also think like masterid...I agree with masterid....masterid's also right....
