I can definitely concur with MissMau... wear chainmail. I have only ever washed my cat once and it was a case of sheer necessity. She caught fleas and was due to be shipped to Bahrain within the next 5 days (they won't allow your cat to travel with fleas) and the only flea treatment I could get hold of was the shampoo variety.

I put on my bathing suit and got in the bath with her and had my two kids help me, it was not a pretty site - the cat looked pretty ugly too. I didn't even know she was capable of making such noises, she is such a sweet natured little thing.

Needless to say, it is not something I will attempt again unless another emergency arises!
