Smile Best Bird For An Apartment?

I really love birds, but I have never owned one. Can anyone tell me what pet bird is best to own if you live in an apartment? We have a two bedroom "home" with a kitchen and 1 1/2 bathrooms. I'm not sure about the square footage, but it's maybe around 800 sq. ft. Maybe.

What kind of bird would be best to have in such a small dwelling, in your opinion? Obviously we are looking for a small bird. Anything that is too large would require a cage that we can't possibly make room for. A bird that is fairly quiet would be nice too, since our neighbors are known to hit the walls if our stereo is just a little bit loud. My wife and I also work during the day, so we need a pet bird that can be left alone for at least 10 hours every day.

A few people have told me that they would recommend these birds for a small apartment: parakeets, african greys, parrotlets, sun conures, or cockatiels. Does that sound right to you? If so, which one of these birds would fit into our apartment the best?

Thank you!

I think that a parakeet would be great for your apartment. they are small, have small cages, not too loud, and are very easy to keep up with.

you can also keep a single parrot too cuz it can adjust in a small cage and you can easily keep them

Parrots are so easy to care for. They really are perfect for apartments.

1)If you have your heart set on a hook bill, then a Parakeet or Budgie may be the way to go. Small and quiet, these little birds do fine in cozier spaces and aren't loud enough to disturb most people.

OR

2)If you have room for a larger cage, a Cockatiel may be the bird for you. While they may take up a little more room than some smaller species, their calls and chirps rarely reach levels that may be deemed bothersome by neighbors.
