Is hurricane Gustav heading to New Orleans? Will the hurricane Gustav storm hit New Orleans?

That's the two questions that everyone wants answers to right now, but unfortunately all we can do at this point is sort of guess.

Just 3 years after hurricane Katrina wiped out much of New Orleans and the Louisiana/ Mississippi Gulf Coast, Gustav is set to perhaps make a repeat performance.

The latest updates have this storm reach at least a category 3 status when it makes landfall on Monday. We can fairly reasonably predict that we will see wind speeds in the 130 mph range from Gustav, but we just don't know yet.

Until the hurricane gets within 72 hours of landfall, too much can happen to this storm that we just can't see yet. This thing cout hit anywhere from Florida to Texas actually.

But it does look like Gustav is going to strike Louisiana right now. Will it hit New Orleans? I hope not, but we have to prepare for it.

As a person sitting in South Louisiana right now as I write this, I can tell you that all of us are very worried. Many parishes are being evacuated as I type, and many more will follow suit in the next day or two.

Right now, finding gas anywhere in the southern half of Louisiana is getting tough. By Friday, it will be impossible. Most stores are out of the basics such as bread, milk, eggs, etc. It looks like everyone is getting ready for this one to hit us.

By Saturday we should know with a fair amount of confidence if hurricane Gustav will hit New Orleans or not, where it will land, and how strong it will really be.
