I just got home to see a CNN report claiming that a group called bigfoot Tracker has found bigfoot! Can this really be true? Really? I have dreamed of the hairy creature since I was a little boy in the hills of Arkansas. Could it really be that bigfoot exists? I sure hope it's true! This isn't a bigfoot scam again, is it?

here is a brief synopsis of the story. A couple of gys with a group called bigfoot Tracker in Georgia claim to have found the body of the 7 foot + creature in the woods. They claim that other ones were in the area, still alive! The removed the body and placed it in a freezer. Not it is at a university where they are performing bigfoot DNA test on it. A lot of scientist are apparently involved in confirming the creature. There should be a press conference on CNN about this shortly.

I looked up a ton of other info on this story. Here is a bit on what I found for each term:

Live bigfoot Press Conference- It was perhaps the most touted press conference of the week, but it didn't reveal much in the way of evidence: Three bigfoot enthusiasts announced today that a series of genetic tests performed on samples taken from a carcass they claim is a Sasquatch came back as a mixture of human and opossum. In addition to the mixed DNA results, Tom Biscardi, Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer showed the audience two blurry photos, one of a solitary figure in mixed hardwood forest and another of the mouth of what appeared to be the tongue and teeth of a primate.

CNN Bigfoot- Introduced by a publicist and beside a man who promoted what turned out to be a fake bigfoot discovery in 1995, Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer repeatedly said that their claim is not a hoax and that scientific analysis will prove it. "We were not looking for Bigfoot. ... We wouldn't know what we were doing if we did," said Whitton, a police officer on leave after being shot in the hand while making an arrest. "I didn't believe in bigfoot at the time. ... But you've got to come to terms with it and realize you've got something special. And that's what it was."

Bigfoot Tracker- "I think you'll find that this is the real deal," Robert Barrows of Redwood City, Calif., told the Bay City News local wire service. Matthew Whitton, a cop in Clayton County, Ga., and his friend Rick Dyer, a former corrections officer, say they recently found the body in the woods of northern Georgia.

New bigfoot Pictures- DNA photo evidence of the creature commonly known as bigfoot or Sasquatch is to be presented at a press conference to be held on Friday, August 15, at 12 p.m. at the Cabana Hotel-Palo Alto in Palo Alto, California. The press conference will not be open to the public. In advance details released by Searching for Bigfoot, Inc. Menlo Park, California, the bigfoot was described as seven feet seven inches tall, weight over five hundred pounds, male, with appearance part ape-like part human, redish hair with blackish gray eyes, five fingers and toes, feet flat similar to humans.

Body Of bigfoot Found- Two bigfoot hunters claim to have bagged the body of a creature they say is the great hairy one and plan to present their evidence today at noon a hotel in Palo Alto, according to news reports. Rick Dyer, who also offers bigfoot tours, and Matthew Whitton say they made the find in northern Georgia.

Bigfoot Press Conference- Whitton and Dyer said they discovered the carcass when they were hiking in a forest near their home sometime in June and that it has been stored in a large freezer since then. They refused to say exactly where and when, stating only that it was in northern Georgia and that they captured video of several live animals. They said when they found the carcass they hauled it into a truck and brought it to a freezer. They then set up a Web site to offer tours into the area and made an announcement on a bigfoot enthusiast radio program.

Bigfoot DNA- A sample of bigfoot DNA, along with other evidence, never materialized because, the presenters said, they wished to safeguard this "endangered species." The hotel's proximity to the California university is about as close to academia as the supposed findings will get, according to experts contacted by Discovery News. They say photographs of the body, supposedly stored in a freezer, resemble a widely available Halloween costume.

Bigfoot Sightings- Rod jokes in a Hit we publish tomorrow about the chupacabra sighting that bigfoot may want to call his agent and demand some good press. A press conference in about a half hour will have PROOF of Bigfoot's existence, some say. Now, as for me, I don't need anymore proof than this photo right here of Bigfoot. Several people remember the day in 1998 when the beast wandered into the field of a company softball game ... a quick-thinking photographer barely had time to snap this image.

Bigfoot Photos- But bigfoot also lives in Arizona, according to a website. This photo supposedly shows a whole bigfoot family in the mountains of Northern Arizona. That's the poppa at the top right, supposedly, lending a hand to his wife and baby. Funny thing about bigfoot photos and claims, though -- they never pan out. Same thing goes for ghosts, psychics and space aliens. Even when an esteemed figure like former astronaut Mitchell is making the claim, the evidence never follows.

Bigfoot Palo Alto- Biscardi, Whitton and Dyer presented what they called evidence supporting the bigfoot theory. It was an e-mail from a University of Minnesota scientist, but all it said was that of the three DNA samples sent to the scientist, one was human, one was likely a possum and the third could not be tested because of technical problems. At least one other bigfoot researcher, Idaho State University anthropologist Jeffrey Meldrum, called the trio's claims "not compelling in the least." He told the Scientific American that photographs posted on the Web site "just looks like a costume with some fake guts thrown on top for effect."

Bigfoot Costume- Evidently, Sasquatch also are indigenous to Oklahoma, based on a 2005 report that a male and female Sasquatch were "tracked, captured and contained” in the southeastern section of our state. Perhaps we could name our franchise the Sasquatch. That way, if there's something politically incorrect with the selection, all Sasquatch could come out of hiding and show their Big Foot in protest.

Bigfoot Georgia- Two Georgia men claim to have found bigfoot in the northern woods of the state. They say they have a body, photos of the body, and DNA evidence which will be revealed this Friday, Aug. 15, at a news conference in Palo Alto, Calif. DNA evidence? Wait a minute, there is no comparison specimen, so there is no DNA analysis that can definitively identify bigfoot tissue.

Bigfoot Corpse- As if Georgia hasn’t got enough on its mind already,a few now claim that a ‘hairy corpse crammed in a Georgia freezer is Bigfoot.’ The two men say they are always tracking bigfoot when ‘they aren’t busy looking for leprechauns and the Loch Ness monster.’ Luckily for the Georgians near Moscow, however, these Georgians we’re speaking about here are Americans living in the state of Georgia. Sadly for the Georgians near Moscow, on the other hand, most people will probably only read the headline thinking that we’re speaking about them since the world is completely obsessed with them and their country right now.

Bigfoot Hoax- With all that said, I present a two-minute video that should allow you to judge for yourself rather than depending on second- or third-hand accounts whether you believe the story. In addition to the amazing footage this video contains, it's actually quite heartwarming as well -- it reminds me of one we wrote about a few weeks ago -- which was not a hoax (and which included a video).

Bigfoot Discovery- Interesting discussion over at Slashdot.org about the bigfoot discovery. Certainly the botnets around the world haven't shut down for business, but could their operators be looking for new ways to make (steal) money? I must say our filters at CBS work well, in fact, sometimes a little too well. Like when an e-mail from a friend gets the dubious distinction put into the subject line. Sometimes I hit reply and forget to delete it first -- can be kind of insulting to the recipient!

Bigfoot Video- Now, you may point out that this isn't the first time such a claim has been made or that the photo of the body looks an awful lot like a gorilla suit in a box but that's no reason to miss the opportunity to indulge in a lot of "If true..." journalism. My favorite part of the coverage of this story is the way the question of the creature and it's description is secondary to whether the "hunters" can produce it. If they don't produce an actual bigfoot body at the press conference, it's doesn't mean there's no creature, it just means they haven't caught one yet.

Bigfoot Carcass- And why would you need a public relations agent when the world will beat a path to your door as soon as you show the proof? There's also supposedly a video the two men shot when they were hauling out the 500-plus pound carcass. Apparently they were shadowed by up to three other, live animals that followed them out of the woods. At one point, they were able to get good footage of one of the live animals. Where's that tape? Even the dedicated believers in bigfoot are worried this is just another hoax.

Sasquatch- The legend of a North American Ape species known as Sasquatch, bigfoot and Yeti has been around since recorded time. Even today, sighting and physical evidence are gathered on a regular basis. Is this creature fact or fiction?
