Talking 2008 US Open Playoff! Rocco Mediate vs. Tiger Woods!

For the first time since 2001, we are going to see a playoff for the 2008 US Open! The match is set between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate! Two of the best golfers in the world will be playing an 18 hole playoff to figure out who the winner of the US Open 2008 tournament will be.

"The playoff at Torrey Pines will be Monday. Woods will try to win his 14th major, while Mediate, 45, will try to become the oldest player to win the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open is the only major to play an 18-hole playoff. The last time it happened was seven years ago, when Retief Goosen beat Mark Brooks at Southern Hills. Woods shot 2-over 73 to tie Mediate at 1-under 283. Mediate shot even-par 71. He had a chance to win the tournament on No. 18, but his 30-foot birdie putt curled off just to the right."

What a game today! When Tiger Woods was left with that putt (maybe 12 feet?) on the 18th hole I was literally scared to death. But not for long as Tiger sunk the putt to send this baby into the US Open playoffs!

When is the 2008 US Open playoffs? Good question! The playoff will begin on Monday morning (6/16/08). I will be watching it for sure. Even though Tiger Woods knee surgery (he had arthroscopic knee surgery not long ago) kept him down, he would not quit!

Go Tiger go!
