Default US Open 2008

Does anyone watch the US Open?

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott tee off in the opening round of the 108th US Open Championship today at Torrey Pines South.

Woods, is seeking to add a third US Open title to those he won at Pebble Beach in 2000 and Bethpage in 2002, insists he is up to the challenge, despite not playing in nearly nine weeks because of post-Masters knee surgery.

Playing in the tournament’s power pairing with Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott, Woods opened with an unsightly double bogey at Torrey Pines on Thursday, a bad start to his first competitive round since knee surgery after the Masters.

Once before Woods and Mickelson have been paired for a major in the 2006 Championship at Medinah.

So anyone want to guess who's going to win the US Open 2008?

Default Tiger Woods Will Win 2008 US Open!

Yep, I am a big fan of the US Open!! Very exciting. This US Open 2008 should be a blast. You know it starts today right??? Check this out:

What looked like a possible meltdown turned out to be only a hiccup for Tiger Woods. The world's best player made an ugly double bogey on the opening hole of the U.S. Open on Thursday, but came back with three birdies over the next eight holes to turn at 1 under par and within shouting distance of the leader, Robert Karlsson.
Karlsson was 4 under, a shot ahead of Justin Hicks, Stuart Appleby and Patrick Sheehan, who teed off in the first threesome of the day under cloudy skies and cool temperatures at Torrey Pines.
An hour later, with the sun starting to peek out, Woods took to the course, part of a glamour threesome with second-ranked Phil Mickelson and third-ranked Adam Scott.
Scott made the turn at even par and Mickelson staggered to 3-over, missing three putts badly on the front and having some apparent trouble reading the greens at a course that used to feel like home. A Southern California native, Mickelson played Torrey Pines a lot growing up, though the course has become something completely different under U.S. Open conditions.

I'm a huge fan of Tiger Woods! I have been following his career since Tiger Woods was an amateur. I sure wish I could swing the golf club like him.

See the perfect angle before Tiger Woods swings?? So sick!

Tiger Woods back swing is utter perfection!

I can see the headlines already: Tiger Woods WINS 2008 US OPEN!

Yes!!!! lol

I would like to see Tiger Woods win the 2008 U.S. Open golf tournament 2 man. I hope he does well at least. Here are the two favorites to win it:

Phil Mickelson is the favorite to win the 2008 U.S. Open. If it's ever going to happen, this is the year. Mickelson has been scouting out Torrey Pines, where he played much of his junior golf, for months now and the four-time U.S. Open runner-up is more determined than ever to capture the elusive third leg of the career Grand Slam. "I've played well in U.S. Opens," he said. "Even take away the four second-place finishes, and there were a couple other opportunities as well. I think that as you adjust as a player, you just adjust to your environment and if you have short tight fairways or narrow fairways with thick rough, you just kind of adjust it and hit something different off the tee and try to get it into play." Phil Mickelson? Just trying to get it into play? We'll believe it when we see it ... but if we see it this week, it could mean an Open title for Lefty.

Tiger Woods is the second favorite to win the USGA tournament. Yes, even with an eight-week hiatus entering the Open, he is still the prohibitive favorite. No, the surgically repaired left knee won't cause him too much trouble on the course. (And even if it does, we may never know, because Woods won't admit it.) Tough to ever pick against the 13-time major champion, but if you're ever going to do so, this is the time. Tiger hasn't been tournament tested since the Masters and hasn't won this tournament since 2002 -- his longest drought at any of the four majors. Playing a course on which he's captured the Buick Invitational six times will help, and you'd better believe Woods will contend. But if offered the age-old question of "Tiger versus the field" this week, take the field.

It;s strange how they paired Mickelson and Woods together huh? I don't believe that I have ever seen anything like this. See:

Although both Mickelson and Woods are poised to have great tournaments, the big talk seems to be the way the United States golf Association has decided to do the pairings for the first two rounds. The world's top 12 players will be in four threesomes, teeing off at different times of day. The players, even Tiger Woods, seem to have no problem with the first-time experiment.
"I think its great," he said. "It's increased a lot of excitement. I haven't heard one negative thing about the pairings."
Not known for being good friends, Woods and Mickelson will play alongside one another in the first two rounds with world number three Adam Scott of Australia.
Angel Cabrera, who last year became the first Argentine to win the U.S. Open, will play the first two rounds with Ireland's Padraig Harrington and American Davis Love III.

Default Tiger Woods Knee Surgery Causing Problems

Well Tiger Woods is in the lead by one stroke heading into the final day of the 2008 US Open. Looks like I was right. Tiger Woods wins the US Open! lol

But I am a little nervous because of his knee issue. Tiger Woods has some knee problems, and it was really hurting his play at the end of today. Read this:

Saying that a third round of a U.S. Open was one of the greatest sports moments of all time is a little like saying that the 6th inning of a World Series game, or the 3rd quarter of a Super Bowl, made history. It just doesn't make sense to say something like that.

If there is a more dramatic moment in 2008 in the world of sports than what we witnessed today at Torrey Pines golf Course, then it will likely be provided by Tiger Woods. Johnny Miller called him "the human highlight reel." Even Tiger himself seemed incredulous at what was happening. The simple fact of the matter is that, if you saw what happened today in a film, you'd snicker, thinking "that sort of sh*t just doesn't happen in real life."

Tiger had knee surgery in April. He has not played competitive golf since the Masters. He in obvious pain on the course, if not agony. To finish would be a testament to his will and his ability. It is not possible for a human being to do what he did on the back nine this afternoon and evening. And yet, he did it. He leads the U.S. Open, heading into the final round. Were he healthy, people would be closing the books as we speak. But he is not healthy, and thus there is heavy drama heading into the final round. Lee Westwood is just the kind of guy that is unflappable enough to shine in this kind of moment. Geoff Ogilvy is lurking. Rocco Mediate is looking to make history.

Default Tiger Woods Wife- Swedish Model Elin Nordegren

Nice thread about the knee issue Alec. I sure hope Tiger can pull it off. Very motivational for everyone that has had knee surgery!

Did you fellas know that Tiger Woods wife Elin Nordegren is with him at the US Open 2008 this year? She normally doesn't come to watch him at tournaments. Tiger Woods wife is a Swedish model. Not bad eh?
